Step 1: Getting Started

Locate Yourself: Begin by clicking the “Find My Location” button, situated beneath the home button on the map. This will zoom into your current location, revealing nearby waymarkers and their stories—ideal for small-screen devices.
Search and Discover: If you prefer, utilize the search function to focus on a specific area. Enter a waymarker name or address, then pan the map to locate your points of interest.
Waymarker Navigation: On the map’s left side, the “Locate Waymarkers” tab allows you to define your search area using points, lines, or polygons. Adjust the buffer distance in miles to fine-tune your results. Note: This feature is less suited for small screens.
Refine Your Search: Use the “Filter” button below the “Find My Location” button to sort waymarkers by type, tailoring the map to show only what interests you.

Step 2: Selecting Your Destination

Choose Your Adventure: Tap on a waymarker icon and press the “Directions to Waymarker” button. Follow the provided directions for a guided experience to the waymarker, where history and stories await.

Step 3: Documenting Your Experience

Record Your Visit: At the waymarker, log your name or team name with the “Log Your Information Here” button. Add your name and snap a photo to capture the moment; the date and waymarker details are automatically included.
Reflect on Your Path: To revisit your journey, head to the Leaderboard page. There, you can browse through the photos and look back on the waymarkers you’ve discovered.

The order on the map is not important; you can begin anywhere.

Select the Find My Location icon to find the waymarkers nearby. Choose one in close proximity by panning the map.
To utilize the find my location and directions features, allow location access if prompted.
- iPhone: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and move the switch next to Location Services to On.
- Android: Tap Settings > Location and move the slider to On
You can also view waymarkers in a neighborhood on the map when you enter an address.

You can receive step by step directions to your selected waymarker by doing the following.

Click on a Waymarker Icon, and select the Directions to Waymarker button via the "pop-up".

Once you arrive at the chosen waymarker:

Choose the Log Your Information Here button after reading the historical fact in the Did You Know section.

Example:

Waymarker name and date will be prepopulated.
Input your name or team name.
Upload a selfie with the waymarker in the background when you arrive at the historic site.
Press submit and return to the map to continue.
