Historic Preservation Awards 2024

The Explore Historical Tallahassee “History in your Hands” website became an award-winning website in 2024. TLCGIS won in two esteemed categories for the 2024 Historic Preservation awards in Tallahassee, Florida.

The first award being the Preservation Education Award of Excellence for providing new and innovative ways to share history through Geographic Information System (GIS) Tools and web applications. In preparation for the Bicentennial year, TLCGIS launched the Bicentennial Themed landing page with a variety of content showcasing the diversity in the stories that were shared.

Secondly, the ”History in Your Hands” website won the Organizational Achievement Award of Excellence for sharing the educational content by creating historical GIS data by utilizing public accessible historical documents and data. Archeologists, genealogists, and historians alike utilize the applications to view historical data spatially. This multifaceted website encompasses historic storytelling for spatial locations and analysis.
