Abstract: The grid represents a 200 row by 540 column series of 5000 by 5000 foot cells that provides a standard means of organizing data collected for orthophotography, LiDAR or other mapping projects. The grid covers the entire panhandle of Florida, across the northern peninsula and south to to include all of Levy and Marion Counties. It also extends into the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean to support bathymetric mapping. The grid cells are aligned on even multiples of 5000 foot State Plane North Northings and Eastings for ease of use. There is a unique identifier for each cell that starts with 1 in the northwest corner and ends with 108,000 in the southeast corner. The identifiers increase incrementally west to east within each row. The identifier of the western most cell of each row represents the next sequential integer value after the eastern most identifier of the previous row. |
Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

The grid serves as a common means of defining project areas and organizing deliverables of orthophotography, LiDAR and other mapping projects. The grid provides a means to improve the coordination of projects between various state, regional and local governments by providing a common indexing scheme for projects within Florida.
This grid intentionally extends beyond the region normally defined by the State Plane North projection to allow for its use by regional agencies such as water management districts. In the peninsula it overlaps with a similar grids in State Plane East and West coordinates.

There are no use constraints.
None.
Grid cell values are unique and sequentially numbered.
All grid cell idenitifiers were visually inspected.
The grid was mathematically generated and is accurate to the internal precision of ArcGIS 9.1 coordinates.
The grid was created using the ArcGIS Workstation GENERATE FISHNET command. The original origin for the grid was set to 850000, 0 State Plane North Easting and Northing coordinates. The coverage was build as polygon and arcs. The coverage was then edited in ARCEDIT and all arcs were moved south 30,000 feet to allow for complete coverage of Levy and Marion Counties to allow for its use by Suwannee River Water Management District. The coverage was built again and exported to an ESRI personal geodatabase and assigned a map projection. The grid identifier column was added and populated.
